As each part gets fitted it looks less like a std mk1 escort
and more like the quo rod
modified door latches
Because the door handles have been shaved the doors will open via remote solenoids problem is the lack of room in the door so I have mounted the latch part of the lock in the rear qtr.
I now have the whole rear qtr to mount the solenoids and also from a security point of view the doors cannot be opened with the metal strip down the side of the window trick!!

Now she is taking shape with the roof fin on and the boot spoiler done, the roof fin is detachable for MOT test.

Coil over units purchased from my cousin then given a major service by GAZ (top firm)
THE FRONT SPOILER
After months of trying to find someone to make me a front spoiler I have given up and decided to have a go myself see how I got on below.
First I made a frame from 16mm tubing using a pipe bender
Then had to shape the top edge to fit the front valance and make the curve, the hardest bit was yet to come the front and the side edges had to be rolled I done this by using the 16mm tube and a rubber mallet. The results can be seen below

I have just purchased a Dry sumped 1700 crossflow which will be fitted to the escort along with a straight cut quaiffe 5 speed gearbox and a 4:1 LSD
SHE IS IN PRIMER!!!!
I have found a set of 9x13 Revolutions the same as the ones fitted to the original car, they needed a refurb which I am in the process of doing (see below)

I have found a pair of Corbeau GT8 seats in very good condition and also a pair of original Britax racing harnesses with the original black and chrome buckles, Doing well with the retro stuff at the moment!!!!!

UPDATE:
I have been busy with things like wiring, fuel lines, brake lines, dry sump tank and lots of other things but hope to get the engine in on friday and then all going well the finish line will be in sight!!!

After a really bad day on Friday when I ended up having to take off the sump and get it modified which was a lot of messing about I did not need, The engine and gearbox are in!!

Had to go into hospital for a little operation so could not work on the car for a couple of weeks but feeling better now so working hard to get things done ASAP,
Engine in almost ready to fire up, Wheels are on! Just need to sort out a sign writer and we are rocking!!!!
